Open Studio
(L to R) Massiel Grullon, Rob “Problak” Gibbs, Jason “Swat” Talbot, and Bob Tomolillo
The best way to share the magic of AFH with the broader community is by visiting during program hours to witness the teens engaging in the creative process first-hand. Our Open Studio, which is free and open to the public, makes it possible to tour our studios and witness our mission and business model up close. Guests not only meet our teen artists and mentors, but also learn about the clients they work with and the design solutions they provide. They view works in our art collection and meet new people, extending their own networks while simultaneously building the AFH community.

New in 2022, Open Studio doubled as the opening reception for four featured artist exhibitions in The AFH Gallery. The inspiring artists were AFH Co-founder and Alumnus Rob Gibbs, AFH Co-founder, Alumnus and Managing Director of Program, Jason Talbot, AFH alumna Massiel Grullon, and AFH advocate and friend, Bob Tomolillo.

This new feature was received with such overwhelming success that it will continue as a signature part of our Open Studios going forward. Not only does it create space to celebrate our local artistic community and offer diverse inspiration and new role models for our teen artists, but it also dramatically increases our broader community—encouraging guests to return to Open Studio over and over to experience something new.
